Bowlers book place in a national final
Mary Johnson, Jayne Taplin, Judith Moody and Olive Wells reached the Area 4 final of the EIBA National Championships Ladies’ Rink competition.
On Saturday they convincingly defeated S. Smart, E. Griffin, J. Lee and P. Cutts of Nottingham 20-13 to move into the last round.

Hide AdThey will now progress to the National finals in Melton Mowbray, which will be held this Saturday.
The last Ladies’ Trudy Bates county match of the season was away at Dunholme, with Horncastle winning by 92 shots to 86.
They won on two rinks, lost on two and drew the other for a points win of 11-5.
Rink Scores: O. Wells 26-12, Jean Hoyles 12-22, P. Scholey 10-22, M. Johnson 29-15, J. Moody 15-15.

Hide AdCurrently sitting nine points clear at the top of the County Mixed League, Horncastle travelled to Spalding where they were beaten 78-117.
They won on one rink and lost by a points total of 16-2.
Rink Scores: T. Nunn 19-26; S. Grimwood 18-19; G. Wells 14-32; K. Jackman 11-27; K. Taplin 16-13.
Meanwhile, on Sunday Horncastle IBC had the honour of hosting the final 16 of the Lincolnshire 18 and under Singles event.
The competition was held on Sunday and run by Rod West, the county’s under 18s co-ordinator.

Hide AdOnly three of the four final positions were played for; Group A having been re-arranged as Aaron Barnes (Spalding) was playing in the under 18 National Finals.
However, three youngsters made it through to the county finals, to be held in Boston on April 22.
They are Aaron Wild (Spalding), Owen Aspinall (Stamford) and Caitlin Moore (Boston).
