Sand clearance on coast from Skegness to Mablethorpe could take “several weeks” warns East Lindsey District Council
So far its efforts have focussed on the worst affected areas of Skegness, Winthorpe, Mablethorpe and Sutton on Sea, in a bid to ensure key access points remain clear for emergency vehicles and members of the public.
Neighbourhoods manager Victoria Burgess said: “We are continuing our efforts across the coast and as we progress we are rapidly realising the enormity of the job we still have ahead of us.

“It will still take several weeks to remove all the sand and we would ask that the public remain patient as we undertake this mammoth task.”
As the main promenades are now accessible, the sand clearing teams are focussing on areas where sand poses a hazard to roads and the sea defence areas.
News of the ongoing clean-up comes just days after other agencies revealed the terrible cost of the storms on local wildlife.
