Thursday, 3.14pm - GARDENERS in Skegness face waste collection delays after Lincolnshire County Council closed a green waste disposal site in the district.
Collections could be affected in Skegness, Woodhall Spa and surrounding villages for up to two months after the Cranbury Waste Composting site in Eastville, one of just two sites in the district, was closed due to a breach of planning regulations.
It is where green waste collected from the south of East Lindsey is taken and now means a 60-mile detour for lorries to empty at South Elkington, East Lindsey's only other green waste disposal site.

Service manager for street scene at East Lindsey District Council Roy Ormsby said: "Teams will be doing their usual rounds but because of the extra travelling time it may not be possible to collect all the green waste as they normally do.

"Teams are being asked to work extra shifts to try to get all green bins emptied. We will also keep our website up to date with any issues affecting residents that could arise because of this."

Cranbury Waste composting will remain closed while LCC investigates outstanding planning issues.
