Patrick walks on water
Wednesday - WALKING on water is the latest craze to hit Skegness and is now available at the Embassy Swimming Pool, in Grand Parade.
Standard reporter Patrick O'Kane went along to see what the fuss is all about.
WALKING on water was not something I expected to do in my lifetime, but now it is something I have achieved.
The pool now has two WaterWalkers, special bubbles which allow people to walk on water, with your clothes on, and offer a new way to exercise in the town this summer.
East Lindsey District Council bought the bubbles after managers saw them displayed at a leisure industries week in Birmingham.
Facility manager Suzy Kilner said: "We are hoping to set up a programme for September to make WaterWalkers available to more people. They are for any age from six and they encourage exercise."
Stepping into the ball I was sure I would go back to the office like a drowned rat, but I was reassured and before I knew it, I was zipped in and I took the plunge.
I tried to walk forward and within ten seconds I was down, but I had walked on water!
For the next three minutes I clambered around, trying to stand up.
I was watched by two lifeguards, who tethered a rope to the WaterWalker to ensure they could assist me in case of difficulty.
As the heat in the ball grew, I became tired. I decided to have one last push.
I got to my knees, raised my hands and fell on my head.
That was enough. I gave the signal to let me out and the lifeguards pulled me to the edge and I rolled onto the poolside.
Lifeguard Leigh Morley then put me to shame by running three lengths of the pool.
The WaterWalker experience is great fun and I would recommend it to everyone.
For just £4 keycard holders can try out the WaterWalkers during casual swimming sessions (6-7pm) on August 7, 13, 18, 27 and 28.
